How to Get Rid of Dark Underarms Fast and Naturally

Dark underarms can be surely embarrassing. Imagine having to keep your hands down all the time when you are at the beach, or not daring to wear sleeveless tops for work just because your armpits do not look good? This is a lot of sacrifice; you deserve the freedom!

Whether your underarms darkened due to using shaving chemicals, alcohol-based deodorants, poor ventilation, or just excessive sweating, let us not leave them dark. I will show you a number of home remedies that will help you brighten them and get that smile back.

Here are tips that you need to keep in mind to brighten dark underarms.

1. Use cucumbers

Cucumbers have been proven to have natural bleaching properties, making them handy in helping lighten discolored skin. Here’s what to do:

You will need...

  • 1 cucumber
  • Turmeric powder
  • Lemons
  • Warm water

Grate the cucumber until you get the juice. Do the same with lemon juice. Mix the two and then add a pinch of turmeric powder. Now apply the contents on the underarms, leaving it to sit there for around 30 minutes, and then wash everything off with warm water. Repeat this process once every day until you get your desired results.

Alternatively, you could also get 2 -3 thin slices of cucumber and rub them on your armpits, repeating this at least once per day.

2. Bleach with lemon

After thorough research, I discovered that lemon is perhaps one of the most effective remedies of lightening underarms. Why? Well, simply put, lemon is a natural cleanser, which is why you can see restaurants using lemon and hot water to lean bowls. As a bonus, lemon also has anti-septic and ant-bacterial properties, so you will not have to worry about getting any infections. Here’s what you need to do:

You will need...

  • A slice of lemon
  • Moisturizer

Just take the slice of lemon and gently rub it on your underarms every day before you head for the shower. After your bath, apply some moisturizer to make the armpits dry.

Alternatively, add one or two pinches of turmeric, yogurt, honey, and lemon juice into a bowl and mix everything together to make a paste. Apply it on your underarms, leaving it to sit there for around 10 minutes before flashing it off with warm water.

3. Potatoes

Just like cucumbers, potatoes are great bleaching agents thanks to their mild acidic properties. While lemon might cause a little irritation, potatoes are easy on your skin, meaning that even those with sensitive skins can use them.

You will need...

  • 1 potato
  • A cotton ball

Grate your potato, squeezing out its juice. Using a cotton ball or just your fingers, apply the juice over your armpits, letting it stay there for about 10 to 15 minutes. Wash the contents off using some lukewarm water. Repeat this twice per day for better results.

Alternatively, you could just take 2 slices of potatoes and rub each on your armpits respectively. Do it for about 5 to 10 minutes, rinsing off with some lukewarm water thereafter.

4. Orange peel

Orange peels are common in beauty parlors for one simple reason: they have great exfoliating and skin lightening properties. Here’s how to use them:

orange peel

You will need...

  • Orange peels
  • Grinder
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of rose water
  • 1 cup of cold water

Put the orange peels outside in the sun for several days until they are completely dry. Now grind them into fine powder, and use two teaspoons to mix with enough milk and rose water to make a paste. Rub the contents on your underarms gently, leaving it to sit there for 10 – 15 minutes. Done? No wash the area with some cold water. Repeat this process about two or three times in a week.

5. Baking Soda

Some people have used baking soda to get rid of dark underarms and succeeded. White it does is to remove all the dead skin, just like a scrub, eliminating all the dark areas. Here’s the process:

You will need...

  • Baking soda
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • A soft towel

Add a little warm water to the baking soda to make a paste, and then apply it to your armpits. Scrub the area gently before washing it off with the remaining water. Pat dry the skin using a soft towel. If you like, you could also apply the baking soda mixed with cornstarch ( in equal parts) to give the area a lighter appearance.

6. Don’t forget about natural scrubs

That’s right. Sometimes the dark armpits are nothing more than just some accumulated dead skin cells. In such a case, you could do just fine exfoliating your skin using a soft loofah. As a general rule of thumb, avoid using harsh chemicals. Stick to natural scrubs to prevent infections in the sweat glands, hair follicles and poles. To make it more effective, apply some lemon juice thereafter.

7. Coconut oil

coconut oil

This is yet another great option to lighten your underarms. Researchers have shown that coconut oil is rich in vitamin E, and therefore helpful in removing the dark areas of armpits. Better yet, it will also work as a great natural deodorant.

You will need...

  • Coconut oil
  • A mild soap
  • Lukewarm water

Start by massaging the dark armpits with the coconut oil, leaving it there for about 10 – 15 minutes. Now wash the underarms using a mild soap and the lukewarm water. Repeat this process at least two times per day in order to achieve your desired results.

That’s it! You no longer have to worry about adorning in those sexy tops just because your underarms are not attractive. Make them lighter with these home remedies and have your freedom back.
